California Tenant Law provides experienced legal representation for tenants throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded by Kenneth H. Carlson, J.D. (CA State Bar #93602) in 1980, our practice exclusively represents tenants facing eviction, security deposit disputes, habitability issues, and landlord harassment.
Our Bay Area office serves tenants in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, San Jose, and all nine Bay Area counties. Whether you’re dealing with San Francisco rent control issues, an Ellis Act eviction, or a dispute with your property management company, we provide accessible, affordable legal expertise backed by over four decades of California tenant law experience.
Kavin Williams is the founder and owner of KAW LAW, a law practice established in September 2022 that specializes in tenant advocacy and consumer rights law. Prior to founding KAW LAW, Kavin served as a staff attorney for the Eviction Defense Collaborative, one of San Francisco’s leading tenant rights organizations.
Kavin currently serves as a commissioner for San Francisco’s Building Inspection Commission, giving him unique insight into housing code enforcement and habitability issues that affect Bay Area tenants. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and the University of Puget Sound.
