The following agencies serve various parts of California for those who cannot afford to pay a lawyer. Some charge a small fee. Most are staffed by primarily by paralegals who are generally familiar with landlord-tenant law, and will help you with preparing an answer. It is rare that you would actually deal with a lawyer, or have a lawyer from these agencies represent you at trial. This is a bare-bones option, and will not maximize time or otherwise be a strong legal advocacy. In most cases, you will need to financially qualify for their services, such as being unemployed or on Welfare, and make an appointment to visit their facility. |
